Mike Hannigan

Mike may come from an upper crust background, with rich parents living on the upper East side of New York, but he is far from the same. Refusing to take any moeny from them, he leaves his job as a lawyer to follow his dream of becoming a pianist.
Mike is introduced to the show when he is just sitting in Central Perk. Joey and Phoebe had promised to arrange dates with each other, but Joey had forgotton. When Joey blurts out that Phoebe's make believe date is Mike, and he realises he doesn't know any Mikes, he panics and yells out for a Mike in Central Perk. Though they have never met before, Mike agrees to help Joey out and go on the date and so begins the love affair of Phoebe and Mike. They appear on and off throughout Season 9, facing many obstacles including Mike the divorcee not wanting to get married, as well as ex-boyfriends and current girlfriends, until they finally get engaged, and marry during season 10.
Mike shares a child-like attitude with his girlfriend. The name of this fanlisting stems from when Mike threatens to change his name to Crap Bag to show Phoebe to the error of her ways when she changes hers to Princess Consuela Banana Hammock. He is a jokey type, though not to the extent of Chandler. His arty musical ways fit together with Phoebe's wacky ways perfectly, and he fits into the gang better than the other outsider boyfriends/girlfriends, many fans like to think of him as the 'seventh friend'.
